Favourite part of SUMS: "Knowing that I'm responding to Christ's call and building friendships with our guests".

Amber Neufeld

diRector of special initiatives

Executive Assistant

Years at SUMS: 1

Daily Tasks: Leading the Community Connection Worker and Shelter Connection Worker teams, update social media, create newsletters and written communications, and converse with donors and other like-minded organizations. I also build relationships with our guests, connect them to services, keep Mike in order, and help with whatever else happens that day in the mission.

Why do you love working at SUMS?  "I am so blessed to be at SUMS. The staff are incredible and our guests are a light in my life. As much as it can sometimes be rough around the mission it is incredible to see how God works here, and be able to be a part of such an amazing atmosphere of love, grace, and kindness."

Sally-Ann Ratcliffe

operations CO-ORDINATOR

Years at SUMS: 6

Daily Tasks: Keeping track of all the items donated to SUMS. All the food, bread, dairy, clothes, socks, shoes, dog/cat food, and so much more. Also, overseeing all the volunteers that come to help us, without them it would be nearly impossible to run SUMS.

Why do you love working at SUMS? "I try to listen to God my father and He asked me to work at the Surrey Urban Mission, so I do. I also love working at SUMS because all the guests, volunteers and staff can be their real, authentic selves; we are who we are.  Working at the Surrey Urban Mission is the most rewarding job I have ever done except, of course, raising my children."
